B Party
The B Party is typically the band party on a tour — hired musicians, dancers, and other people involved in the performance who aren't part of the A Party or the principal's inner circle.
Who's in the B Party
Band members and dancers are the most common B Party members. These are people who are treated slightly better than crew members but may or may not travel with the A Party. The B Party's composition depends entirely on the preferences of the principal and the size of the tour — on some tours, the B Party is just the band; on others, it includes anyone involved in the on-stage performance.
How B Party travels
The B Party can exist separately from both the A Party and C Party, depending on preferences of the artist and budgetary restrictions. Sometimes the band travels on the artist's bus, sometimes they have their own bus, and sometimes they travel with the crew. Hotel budgets for B Party are typically higher than C Party but lower than A Party.
B Party on larger tours
On larger tours, the artist party (A), band party (B), and crew party (C) may all be distinctly separated — different buses, different hotels, different day sheet schedules. On smaller tours, the lines between B and C Party blur and everyone may travel together.
How Daysheets handles this: Group Tags in Daysheets let tour managers assign personnel to party groups and control what information each group sees on their day sheet. The B Party sees their schedule, travel, and relevant logistics without the noise of A Party press schedules or C Party load-in details.
