Production Call

A production call is the call time for the production department heads — production manager, lighting director, FOH engineer, monitor engineer, video director, and other senior production crew. It's typically earlier than the general crew call, giving department heads time to assess the venue, meet with the local stage manager, and plan load-in before the full crew arrives.

Production call vs. crew call

Production call is for planning. Crew call is for doing. The production team arrives, walks the stage and venue, reviews rigging points, confirms power, and briefs the local crew. When the broader touring crew arrives at crew call, the production team already has a plan for the day.
