XLR

An XLR is a type of audio connector — a three-pin plug used for microphones, monitors, and other professional audio equipment. It's the standard cable connector in live sound, carrying balanced audio signal that resists interference over long cable runs. You'll see hundreds of them on any show day.

Why XLR

XLR connectors lock into place (they click and won't pull out accidentally), carry balanced signal (which rejects noise), and are built to withstand the abuse of touring — being plugged and unplugged hundreds of times, stepped on, run over by road cases, and coiled and uncoiled nightly.
