Hair and Makeup (HMU)

HMU (Hair and Makeup) refers to the team that prepares artists for performances, press appearances, and photo/video shoots. On larger tours, HMU may be full-time traveling members of the A Party. On smaller tours, hair and makeup artists may only be hired for specific events — a TV appearance, a taped performance, or anything where the artist is on camera.

What HMU covers

Show-day prep (hair styling, makeup application), quick changes during the performance, press and media prep, and sometimes wardrobe coordination. The dressing room setup — mirrors, lighting, power outlets — directly affects HMU's ability to do their job, which is why it's specified in the hospitality rider.
