Truck Driver
A truck driver drives the production truck(s) carrying staging, sound, lighting, video, and backline equipment between venues. The truck driver may not need hotel rooms — they'll sometimes sleep in the cab of the truck and get themselves from show to show. Like bus drivers, truck drivers are regulated by DOT hours-of-service rules that affect how far the truck can travel and when rest periods are required.
Truck logistics
On larger tours, multiple trucks carry the production. The truck driver coordinates with the production manager on departure times, routes, and arrival at the next venue — the truck often needs to arrive before the tour bus so gear is ready for load-in. Truck parking and loading dock access are confirmed during the advance.
