Truss
Truss is a structural framework — typically aluminum — used to support lighting fixtures, speakers, video screens, and other production elements. Truss sections are connected together and either hoisted into position by the rigging system (flown truss) or supported on legs from the ground (ground-supported truss).
Truss and rigging
Truss is part of the rigging infrastructure managed by the rigger and production manager. The technical rider specifies truss requirements, and the venue's rigging plot determines whether it can be flown or must be ground-supported. Ground-supported truss takes up floor space and can affect sight lines.
