Guitar Tech

A guitar tech is a backline technician specializing in guitars — tuning, maintaining, swapping instruments between songs, and troubleshooting rig problems mid-show. On larger tours, each guitarist may have their own dedicated tech.

What guitar techs do

Before the show: tune all guitars, set up the pedalboard and amp rig per the stage plot, check all connections. During the show: stand side-stage with backup guitars tuned and ready, swap instruments between songs (sometimes in seconds), troubleshoot any signal issues in real time. After the show: pack everything into road cases.
