VIP

VIP (Very Important Person) at concerts can mean two different things. Paid VIP refers to ticket buyers who purchased a VIP package with premium access and perks. Guest list VIP is different — when you add a VIP person to your guest list, you're giving them a complimentary ticket plus access to a VIP section with preferred seating or viewing, but they haven't paid for a VIP package. The distinction matters for access management and the day sheet.

VIP packages

Many tours sell VIP ticket packages that include premium seating or early entry, meet & greet access with the artist, exclusive merch or commemorative items, dedicated lounge areas with food and drinks, and sometimes soundcheck viewing. These packages are a significant revenue stream, often priced at 2-5x the standard ticket.

VIP management on tour

The tour manager coordinates VIP experiences — timing meet & greets, managing flow, and making sure VIP activities don't conflict with the artist's schedule or soundcheck. VIP logistics are part of the day sheet and confirmed during the advance.

VIP vs. guest list

VIP ticket holders are paying customers. Guest list attendees are complimentary — the artist's guests, industry contacts, or promotional invites. They use different entry points, access levels, and management processes.
